People in New Malden say they’re increasingly concerned over alleged plans for another tower block in the high street
Tudor Williams department store closed down last June after over 100 years in the high street.
Now, details of plans by new owners Rocco Homes have been published on Facebook.
They allege a ground floor of retail and 12 storeys of flats on top, to be staggered near the houses in next door Cambridge road.
Residents have long campaigned against more tower blocks saying the original two near the station “set a precedent” but aren’t liked.
They also say the infrastructure, like schools and GP surgeries, are not in place for the rate of building that’s taking pace in New Malden.
Webinars on the scheme are planned for early next month with a planning application expected to be submitted in February.
Kingston Council says "we can confirm that if a planning application is submitted members of
the public will be involved in the process in the normal way."
Rocco Homes is yet to comment.
