A senior member of the Police Federation has been found to have sent large numbers of lewd and anti-Semitic texts to a person he was representing

The Leatherhead-based organisation offers legal help to officers and acts like a trade union.

Former Detective Sergeant Redgewell was a police officer, and was also the Deputy General Secretary and Treasurer of the Federation.

He was representing a vulnerable individual, and sent offensive messages to them over the course of two years.

He resigned during the misconduct investigation, but a hearing has found that if he were still in service, he would be dismissed without notice.
