Hook police station could be about to close.
Residents were informed of the move in a virtual “police panel” meeting.
If the site in Hook Parade closes, the nearest police station would be Kingston town centre.
Residents are being urged to petition Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.
A Met Police spokesman said;
"This dedicated ward
officer base in Hook Road, Chessington, which has no front counter or
contact point, had been scheduled for closure as referred to in the
Public Access Strategy. However no date has been fixed
for this yet and discussions are still ongoing in relation to this
building. When a decision is made we will communicate this to community
members.
As part of the Met’s
estate transformation programme, we are selling some buildings, for
example where they are not fit for purpose, which allows us to invest in
and refurbish other buildings to support new ways
of working and to accommodate our workforce."
