Information about coronavirus in Hindi and Punjabi from Hounslow Council has been called “very, very difficult to read”
It follows concerns about communication issues and fake news affecting vaccine takeup in the borough. Other findings by the council have shown that people who don’t speak English as a first language have higher rates of COVID-19. Community Representative Charanjit Ajitsingh from the Health and Wellbeing Board says there are spelling and grammatical errors. Sterling Rippy, another board member, says they spotted the issue and stopped others going out. She adds they’ve “used about three different translation companies” and they’re looking to find the best one.
