Some people at a block of flats in Brentford which was evacuated over fire safety concerns, claim they’ve still been paying rent.
A former resident told us that although managers Notting Hill Genesis said they had evacuated everyone, some remained for “weeks”. A spokesman for Notting Hill Genesis has told us; Everyone living at Paragon was relocated by October the 31st. Tenants have continued to pay rent on their flats, but we have paid for their hotels or medium-term accommodation. A Notting Hill Genesis spokesperson said: “Everyone living at Paragon in Brentford was relocated by the 31st of October 2020, within two weeks of us notifying residents of the need to move. No-one was living on the site beyond that. Tenants have continued to pay rent on their flats, but we have paid for their hotels or medium-term accommodation while we support them to find a longer-term solution. “We installed additional waking watch wardens as soon as we were made aware of the specific concerns that led to the decision to moves residents from Paragon, which was early in October. Safety is always our first priority so we immediately took the necessary steps to ensure our residents were protected and able to move in as calm and organised a way as possible”
