A former Croydon police officer who lied about his brother dying of cancer has been found proven of gross misconduct
On his first shift in March 2019, PC Callum Mcintyre told his sergeant that his brother had terminal cancer, and was granted 30 days of compassionate leave. He later admitted this wasn’t true. In August that year, he failed to take a statement from a woman who had been threatened by a man on a moped, and didn’t record the incident. He resigned in February last year, and would have been sacked if he was still serving.
