Tackling inequality is firmly on the agenda in Kensington and Chelsea following the Grenfell tragedy and Covid-19.
That’s according to the council which has announced a new “Equality Strategy.” The task force will engage with community groups and collate data to identify inequality, exclusion and unfairness in the community. A Citizens Panel will also be established to advise the authority on how to pinpoint problems and prioritise solutions. Councillor Anne Cyron, Lead Member for Communities said: “At the forefront of the Council’s values is a commitment to ‘Put Communities First’. Challenging racism and social injustice wherever we encounter it means inequality will play no part in how we deliver our services, to ensure fairer and better outcomes for the people we serve in our communities. It is therefore completely right and important that we have publicly adopted a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement of Intent”.
