US President Joe Biden says the conviction of an ex-police officer of the murder of George Floyd "can be a giant step forward in the march toward justice."
Derek Chauvin was filmed kneeling on the African-American's neck for more than nine minutes last May, sparking mass protests against racism. He'll be sentenced in two months. The Prime Minister and the Labour leader both shared their thoughts on the case in the House of Commons: Elizabeth Chapple is the head of Police for South-West London. She says she’s “pleased the right verdict was returned in the US last night”. Mrs Chapple adds that her thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those “for whom the case had deep meaning”.
