A shop worker raised the alarm yesterday evening after they saw the caked-in fat had caught fire.
Part of the ground floor was damaged, and the extraction system was completely destroyed, but there are no reports of any injuries.
Restaurant and takeaway owners are being told to ensure they clean their equipment.
