Officers
believe the victim was in his 20s.
A

Chief Inspector Dave Blair said:
“Our
initial enquiries have established that this incident probably took place
inside the address on Wedesday night or the early hours of
the following day.
“Were
you in the area of Dowdeswell Close around that time and saw or heard anything
suspicious? If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you think
it may be, I would urge you to contact my team – it may prove vital in enabling
us to piece together the events that led to this violent attack.
“I
want to reassure the community that specially trained murder detectives,
supported by local officers, will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible
are caught.”
Detective
Superintendent Owain Richards from the South West BCU which covers Putney said:
“I
understand the shock and concern an attack like this will have caused
throughout the community.
“Over
the coming days you will see local officers patrolling in and around the area
to offer reassurance and if you have any concerns then please speak to them or
contact your local policing team.
“There
has been, and will continue to be, a significant police presence in the area and
I would thank residents in and around Dowdeswell Close for their patience and
