Spelthorne and Hounslow are two of only a few councils to have spent more on printing over the past year

That’s according to the Taxpayers Alliance, which says that between April 2020 and February 2021, just 14 authorities across the UK reported spending more than the previous year.

Nationwide, nearly £32m less was spent across the country, which almost cuts the cost in half.

Harry Fone, from the TPA, says “Town hall bosses must lock in these reductions for the long term, and pass the advantages of staying paperless onto hard-pressed residents.”
