All paramedics in England are going to be fitted with body cameras, following an increase in the number of assaults
More than 3,500 ambulance staff reported being attacked last year - a 32% rise on 2015. They'll be able to start recording with the touch of a button. It’ll be trialled in London first. Gary Watson, based at Croydon Ambulance Station, was attacked in 2018. He says they’ll act as a deterrent and evidence, and “These cameras are needed, and wearing one makes me feel safer”.
