A serving prisoner at HMP Brixton says a government-backed kitchen training scheme has helped him to build up his confidence

The clink restaurant, which also operates out of HMP Highdown in Sutton, provides prisoners with an opportunity to gain new skills and qualifications in catering and horticulture. 

He says he's been able to learn new skills - and boost his prospects ahead of his release:

The UK-wide initiative was brought to south London back in 2014 to help reduce reoffending rates once prisoners are released.

It's now being extended to a further 70 sites over the next three years.
