Archaeologists commissioned by Hounslow council to carry out an excavation on the site of an upcoming housing development

on Brentford High Street have unearthed artefacts including a coin dating back to Roman times.

The Museum of London Archaeology was brought in to identify and assess the archaeological interest of the site of the new development.

Among the other finds were two 17th century cellars and hearths believed to be Roman in date.

Brentford Block D which will include 96 council rent homes is part of Hounslow’s programme to build 5-thousand new homes in the borough by 2022.
