Hammersmith and Fulham Council has approved a new plan to stabilise Hammersmith Bridge, that could save £24m.

It’s been favourably reviewed by Heritage England, and could reduce the need for temporary closures.

Council leader Stephen Cowan says they’re funding the £6m plan in order to implement it at speed.

The authority says there may be short periods of closure to pedestrians and cyclists during the works.
