The GMB Union wants low paid workers and private hire drivers exempted from paying the Congestion Charge.

The Union says the fee of £15 per day sees some drivers paying more to work than they receive in passenger fares. 

The Ultra Low Emission Zone is also due to expand to areas like Clapham and Richmond from October.

This would mean a further  £12.50 per day in charges if a vehicle doesn’t meet the necessary requirements.
