We’re being urged to “skate safe” as it’s revealed skateboard sales have increased by 31% since the Tokyo Olympics.
Doctors and nurses at Epsom and St Helier hospitals have issued a warning to enthusiasts whether they are pros or amateurs. They’re urging boarders to always wear a helmet, pads, gloves and start learning on grass or carpet. The hospitals treated 800 fracture patients between May and July, with staff saying they don’t want board accidents to add to that figure. Skateboard GB says it has seen a 31% rise in skateboard sales in the past month, and a 20% rise in enquiries for lessons.
