Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms have welcomed their first Northern Line passengers this morning

The extension has cost £1.1bn and has taken six years to build.

The first train left at 5.28am from Battersea, and there’s an initial peak service of six trains per hour, increasing to 12 next year.

Priscilla Smart, working at Battersea, says “working at a new tube station from the day it opens is a once-in-a-generation opportunity”.
