The first Afghan refugee family has arrived in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Council leader Stephen Cowan says they offer a “warm welcome” and “we look forward to helping them to rebuild their lives”.

Four private rented properties have been found in the borough for refugee families.

The Labour council says they expect the cost for this to be covered by the government as they would be housed under the national scheme.
