Reigate and Banstead council says it has been unsuccessful in securing homes for its Afghan refugee families

The authority pledged to take in three families who had assisted British forces in August.

An urgent appeal is going out to the borough’s landlords, with two, three or four-bedroom homes most in need.

The council says although it initially received a “flurry of offers”, none have come to fruition.
