The leader of Surrey County Council is drawing particular attention to social care, saying they’re facing higher costs and unmet demand

Tim Oliver says that the “desperately needed resources” for councils to level up must reach Surrey as well.

The chancellor insists those with "the broadest shoulders" will be paying the majority of taxes after yesterday's budget.

But Labour has a different take, saying the burden's not falling fairly, and working people are losing out the most.

Even so, Rishi Sunak insists he intends to reduce tax, although he won't say when that might happen.
