A memorial service will be held in central London today for a police officer killed in a custody suite in Croydon

Sergeant Matt Ratana was killed in September last year, and today’s event takes the place of the full force funeral that couldn’t be held due to COVID restrictions.

Among the specially invited guests are a number of dogs chosen by his widow to become police dogs.

Commissioner Cressida Dick says “I am delighted that today we can finally honour the promise to gather to pay him tribute”.
