A scheme to try and reduce Wandsworth’s carbon footprint gets underway this week

Around 2,300 households in Southfields are to receive dedicated food caddies.

The separated food waste will be sent to a facility where it will be turned into biogas to power the national grid.

Council officer Paul Chadwick says other boroughs have shown it works well initially but use tails off over time.

He says they’ll be starting with a limited trial.
