Carshalton’s MP Elliot Colburn has led a debate on a proposal to ban the sale of fireworks to the general public

More than 300,000 people have signed a petition calling for their sale and use to be limited to organisers of licensed displays only.

Ministers have to debate petitions that surpass the 100,000-signature mark.  

Mr Colburn says he’s not a “killjoy” and explains why he feels firework use should be curtailed.
