They want residents who visit the recycling centre in Smugglers Way exempted from paying the Mayor’s new ULEZ charge.
The waste site lies just within the new boundary that was unveiled at the end of October.
This means residents who arrive there in vehicles that do not comply with the ULEZ rules are subject to a £12.50 charge.
The concern from leading councillors is that the charge may dissuade some from visiting.
They say an increase in flytipping because people cannot get rid of their waste is a risk.
Councillors say it would be easy to exempt residents because people who visit the site are currently required to pre-book a one-hour slot.
This mean they must provide their vehicle registration number, so the details are already logged.
