Experts think if they combine two powerful drugs they could extend the lives of children with incurable brain cancer.

The research, from the Institute for Cancer Research in Sutton looked at the treatments for leukaemia and melanoma.

They found they slowed the growth of certain brain tumours, which can cause death within a year of diagnosis.

Scientists will carry out more work before testing the combination in a clinical trial on children.
