Five years on from the Croydon tram crash, and the debate around safety is continuing
Croydon Central MP Sarah Jones met Baroness Vere yesterday, who’s the minister for roads and buses. Ms Jones says they spoke about how the charge of death by dangerous of careless driving only applies when trams are on a road. She says she wants that loophole changed, as well as recommendations from the coroner implemented “as soon as possible”. Ms Jones says “the minister is looking at all these issues and we look forward to hearing from her”. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan says “TfL and I remain dedicated to ensuring all safety recommendations are implemented so a tragedy like this will never happen again”.
