John Lewis is leasing its basement to Kingston Council as extra office space for businesses in the borough.

The authority hopes the move will create at least 500 new jobs over the next decade.

The basement will provide co-working space, a café and event space at an “affordable” price to those who need an office base.

It’s hoped the site will be ready by next year.
