Making women and girls feel safe in South-West London is an ongoing police priority according to the Met.

The force has embarked on a number of initiatives recently including placing plain-clothes officers outside bars and clubs at night.

Andrew Wadey is a Detective Superintendent with the South-West Basic Command Unit.

He says the kidnap of Sarah Everard in Clapham, and her subsequent murder by a police officer, was not the catalyst for the action.
