The justice secretary says mandatory life sentences for people who kill on-duty emergency service workers is 'warranted'

The government will bring in the change following the death of PC Andrew Harper.

He was killed while responding to a call in Berkshire in August 2019.

His widow Lissie has been campaigning for the new law after feeling 'outraged' by the sentences handed to the offenders.

Esher and Walton MP Dominic Raab believes this is the right move.
