The justice secretary's refused to deny the backlog of cases in criminal courts could get worse before it gets better, and suggested it could take years to get back to pre-pandemic levels


The lag in England and Wales has been badly affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The government's set up a series of 'super courts' to deal with the problem, with another one opening in Leicestershire today.

Esher MP Dominic Raab insists the situation's stabilising.
