We’re being urged to see a GP or visit the NHS 111 website this winter before calling 999

The South East Coast Ambulance Service says that in October, they answered around 89,000 calls, an average of one every 30 seconds.

It says that winter will bring additional demand, and severe weather can also impact their ability to respond to call-outs.

It’s also asking people to look out for vulnerable family and friends, and to take flu and COVID-19 boosters when offered.
