No trains are to run between East Croydon and Victoria until the 3rd of January as part of a £160m upgrade

Network Rail is upgrading the worn-out 1970s signalling, hoping to improve reliability.

Katie Frost, from the operator, says less people travelling over Christmas means it’s the best time to do large-scale work.

A junction near Battersea will also be completely rebuilt to house the equipment, cable routes and power points from Balham to Victoria.

There’ll be limited replacement buses and tickets will be accepted on other routes.
