The cost of cancelling out the environmental impact of Heathrow expansion has doubled from £50bn to £100bn,

That’s according to a report given to MPs and seen by The Guardian.

It says that the UK’s commitments have grown since the initial proposals, and therefore the costs have risen.

A spokesperson for the airport says reducing carbon emissions is a “central consideration” and they’re “confident” they can meet targets.
