25 councils, including Richmond, Wandsworth and Surrey, have been given new benches as part of a mental health initiative to mark the new series of After Life.
The main character in Ricky Gervais's hit Netflix show "After Life" often sits on a bench in the churchyard where his wife Lisa is buried. The series, concentrates on the journey character Tony goes on after losing his wife to cancer. It centres around his grief, with moments of laughter and humour, but also highlights and works around his feelings of suicide. Two of the benches have been placed in Rookery Gardens & Woodlands in Streatham and at York House Gardens in Twickenham. Netflix has teamed up with suicide prevention charity the Campaign Against Living Miserably to donate seating at locations across the UK to encourage people to open up and talk.
