Hounslow’s Council leader says he backs the Mayor of London’s “ambition” to tackle air pollution, but people must have their say
A new report commissioned by Sadiq Khan states car traffic must reduce by at least 27% in London by the end of the decade. He’s proposing a daily levy of up to £2 to drive a petrol or diesel car in London and another expansion of the ULEZ is on the cards. Hounslow declared a Climate Emergency in 2018 and is working to go zero carbon. But Council leader Hanif Kahn says “I want to ensure that the impact of the ideas in the Mayor’s report are fully explored.” He’s worried about those with disabilities and the impact of COVID. Meanwhile, the RAC says less than a third of Londoners plan to switch to an electric car in the next five years.
