A care home in Chiswick has been told it still “requires improvement”.
Chiswick Nursing Centre was found to not always manage medicines safely when it was inspected in April 2020.
At a recent inspection, it was found the same pestle and mortar was used to grind two different medicines, risking cross contamination.
Chiswick Nursing Centre said:
"1. The inspection took place on 4th February 2021. As you will be aware this was at a time of unprecedented pressure on the services provided by the Chiswick Nursing Centre, related to Covid 19.
2. The Chiswick Nursing Centre is one of the largest nursing centres in London. The centre comprises of 146 beds on five floors. The Chiswick Nursing Centre focuses on the provision of care to higher need/ acuity residents.
3. The breach in question relates to regulation 12 of the heath and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulation 2014 safe care and treatment.
As you will note throughout the CQC inspection report (copy provided), one individual breach on one floor is highlighted, specifically the use of one Pestle and Mortar where there was no cross contamination evidenced. This breach was rectified within 1 day. The CQC have been notified of the actions taken.
4. The sections that were deemed “good” have not been published."
