Hammersmith and Fulham’s council leader is demanding Thames Water takes action to reduce flooding.
Hammersmith and Fulham’s council leader is demanding Thames Water takes action to reduce flooding. Stephen Cowan is being joined by residents badly affected by flooding last summer. The borough was one of the hardest hit in London with thousands of homeowners and businesses affected. One resident claims his sister’s home was flooded with 1.5 feet of raw sewage costing around £65,000 in damages. Thames Water says the volume of the rainfall in the July 2021 storm was unprecedented and completely overwhelmed the sewer capacity. It has promised to listen to the issues and come back with an action plan to lessen the impact of future storms. The council has also vowed to continue to monitor and repair the thousands of gullies across the borough.
