People across South West London are being urged to take part in a stem cell drive to help save the life of a man from Wimbledon
63 year old Zac Zacharia was rushed to hospital last August where it was later discovered he has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. The Adams Fish and Chip shop owner has been told by doctors that a blood stem cell transplant is the only way he may be cured of the disease. The situation is made more difficult because of his Greek Cypriot heritage; it’s likely only someone of the same background will be a match. The donation drive is taking place at St George’s Greek Orthodox Church on Sunday, March the 6th. Anyone aged between 17 and 55 and in general good health only needs to give a cheek swab on the day.
