Surrey Police has confirmed it is not investigating footballer Kurt Zouma after a video surfaced of him kicking his cat.
The force liaised with the RSPCA before understanding the location of the incident was not in its jurisdiction. More than 90,000 people have signed a petition calling for him to be prosecuted over the footage. The West Ham defender's apologised for the video, which was posted to Snapchat, and played for his team last night. He has been fined £250,000 by his club and his cats have been taken away by the RSPCA. Surrey Police has tweeted: “We are aware of a video published by the @TheSun regarding cruelty towards an animal. We carried out a number of enquiries & liaised with @RSPCA_official before understanding that the location in question was not in our Force area. It has been referred to the appropriate Force.”
