There are calls for an emergency airlift to get Ukrainian refugees to the UK.
Lib Dem leader and Kingston MP Sir Ed Davey has visited the Polish border, and says he was “appalled” by the lack of UK Government personnel. He says he counted representatives from 19 other countries. The Foreign Office say they’re “at the forefront” of supporting those fleeing Ukraine, and they’ve sent aid teams to the wider region. An FCDO Spokesperson said: “The UK is at the forefront of supporting those fleeing Ukraine as a result of Putin’s unprovoked aggression. “We have deployed humanitarian teams to the wider region to ensure essential supplies and medical support reach those who need it most.”
