A plea is going out to save Surrey’s songbirds
It’s being issued by Leatherhead charity, Wildlife Aid Foundation, which has seen a spike in the number of hatchlings its taking in. Gardeners and tree surgeons are being reminded of the laws that are in place to protect nesting birds. According to Natural England, nesting season runs from March to July, and during this time it is an offence to knowingly disturb a nest. Anyone carrying out work on hedges, trees and vegetation during this time is advised to make a thorough visual inspection first.
