A report has found a railway worker who died while he was working on the tracks near Surbiton was “distracted” at the time.

30 year old Tyler Byrne from Hampshire was struck by a train in February last year.

Rail Accident Investigation Branch investigators found Mr Byrne had "lost awareness of his position".

Its report has made three safety recommendations, two of which have been addressed to Network Rail.
