Labour MP Emily Thornberry has praised the efforts of the British public in taking in Ukrainian refugees

A number of councils told the Government earlier this year that they would struggle financially to accommodate Afghan refugees.

It’s after ministers announced plans to re-settle 5,000 Afghans within a year following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.  

But speaking on a visit to Kingston, Ms Thornberry has told Jackie News the situation in Ukraine is a very different one.
