The Liberal Democrats have won big in Merton’s local Elections after taking 17 seats.

This means they have leapfrogged the conservatives to become the largest party in the Wimbledon constituency.

They are also the official opposition in Merton council increasing their number of council seats by 11, more than any other party.

Liberal Democrat wins included victory for Kirsten Galea in Wandle where Labour lost a seat and wins against the Conservatives in Wimbledon which saw them reduced to only 6 council seats.
