Transport for London (TfL) has indicated it will plead guilty to health and safety failings over the Croydon tram crash.
An inquest last year heard the tram derailed after approaching a curve near Sandilands at 45mph when the speed limit was 12 mph in 2016. Seven people died and more than 60 were injured. FirstGroup-owned Tram Operations Limited (TOL), TfL, and tram driver Alfred Dorris all face criminal charges. They appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ this morning. The prosecutions are being brought by regulator the Office of Rail and Road. TfL and TOL indicated they will plead guilty to health and safety failings. Driver Alfred Dorris indicated a not guilty plea to an allegation of failing as an employee to take reasonable care of passengers.
