People living in a part of Hersham claim a shared roundabout with an adjoining school is a massive safety issue.

Three Rivers Academy lies on the same land as residential estates Elizabeth Park and Jubilee Meadows.

Developers Bewley Homes have been asked by the council to make key changes to the road layout.

Mary Sheldon is one of Elmbridge Borough’s councillors; she describes the biggest issue.

We have received this statement from Craig Ireland, Technical Director at Bewley Homes:

“There are a number of measures Bewley is progressing, which are in the interests of pedestrians and all road users, to improve the traffic situation, particularly at school drop off times. These are works being progressed and have been costed so that a contractor can be appointed in the coming weeks, which are part of our section 38 obligation. There are also works that we will start immediately which will improve the situation and will upgrade what there currently exists which will be done in conjunction with the school. I will be hoping to set up a meeting with the school to discuss their concerns and talk through our proposed actions. Rest assured, Bewley will communicate with the school, the local authority and the resident’s association to improve the safety and situation for all users using the roundabout and piazza.”
