Premiership Rugby Cup at the Twickenham Stoop: Harlequins 26 - 30 London Irish
An electric atmosphere welcomed the two london teams for this mid-week fixture under the floodlights: Harlequins versus London Irish at the Twickenham Stoop in the opening round of the Premiership Rugby Cup. Led by Centurion Charlie Matthews, this team of young and inexperienced players was given game-time in front of the fans. Despite trailing by 17 points in the opening 12 minutes, Quins fought their way back into contention with tries from Jonny Green, Will Edwards, Sam Riley and Cassius Cleaves (Will Edwards converting 3 out of 4). Time, however, ran out for the hosts who faced a narrow defeat against their London rivals. Harlequins still came away with a well earned 2 bonus points.
