The frustration over ebikes being “abandoned” on pavements across South West London continues today
The latest Lime bike has been spotted not on the pavement but stuck up a tree near Fulwell station. The bright green bikes are available to rent, but at the end of the journey, should be returned to a designated bay. But many councils are not signed up to the scheme and therefore don’t have bays for riders to leave them in. 9 were left “sprawled” on Coombe Road in New Malden over the space of two weeks according to residents there. Meanwhile, Westminster Council is taking matters into its own hands and has started seizing ebikes left in a haphazard fashion. Kingston Council says it has not plans to work with Lime Bikes to install designated Lime bays in the borough. A spokesperson for Lime Bikes says the company will collect any reported to them that are left in an inappropriate manner.
