The Mayor of Spelthorne, Councillor Susan Doran, has paid tribute to Her Majesty.
Councillors
and Officers of Spelthorne Borough Council are deeply saddened at the news of
the death of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the
Royal Family at this time.
The Mayor said, “We come together following the passing of Her
Majesty, the Queen. Our sadness at this time is shared by people across the
globe, as we remember with affection and gratitude the lifetime of service
given. Her Majesty will be missed throughout the country, her spirit was an
inspiration throughout many troubled times and her dedication to duty will
ensure she is long remembered.”
There
will be a royal period of mourning for one month, beginning immediately. The
flag outside the Council offices will be flown at half-mast. Residents
who wish to sign a book of condolence are welcome to do so at Spelthorne
Borough Council reception in Knowle Green, Greeno Community Centre in
Shepperton, Fordbridge Community Centre in Ashford and at St Mary the Virgin
Church in Stanwell.
